Introduction from Chris Jones
For those of you that I haven’t met already my name is Chris Jones and I have recently been appointed as a Community Rugby Coach for Northwich RUFC. I delighted to get the job and work with Northwich as they are a true community club and I am proud to be working on behalf of the club and I will put all my efforts into helping the club improve both on and off the pitch in all age groups.
Previous to my appointment I worked for the RFU as a Community Rugby Coach incorporating the whole of Cheshire taking on project based coaching sessions mainly targeted at Girls tag and Sixth form and college rugby. On the playing side I have played rugby since I was 6yrs old at Wilmslow RUFC where I went on to captain the first XV for 2 years enjoying many tough encounters against Northwich and many other local clubs. Last season I wanted a new challenge on the playing side and decided to move to Macclesfield RUFC and play National rugby. Fortunately I was able to get into the 1st XV and play regularly experiencing new challenges and surroundings on a weekly basis.
I will be coaching at the club once or twice a month on a Sunday the first one being this coming Sunday 14th September, so if anybody would like some help or some specific coaching please don’t hesitate to contact me. Good luck to all at Northwich RUFC this coming season

 SCHOOLS

Primary Schools

After the State Schools competitions I will been working with primary schools helping them with their preparations for the Yr 3/4 Northwich Tag Festival which will be held on June/July and with over 100 pupils taking part last year it was a great day and thank you to the club members who took the time to come down and help.

High Schools Schools
I have been running sessions in Hartford, Weaverham, Rudheath and Leftwich where I have been concentrating on Yrs 7,8&9 boys in preparation for the upcoming State Schools competitions with hopefully Rudheath entering a year 7 team for the first time. Moss Farm staged a girls roadshow on the 25th November where 30 girls from the local schools came down and despite the awful weather worked really hard and enjoyed themselves. Congratulations go to Hartford who have qualified from the borough competitions and are now going onto represent Vale Royal at the North West Competition being held at Broughton Park RUFC on the 9th Feb for the Yr9 and at Rochdale RUFC on the 4th Feb for the yrs7&8.

FE
Rugby has been hit and miss so far at Mid Cheshire but they are still attending the FE festivals with the next one being held at Sandbach RUFC on the 10th Feb. Sir John Deans have been playing regular fixtures and have been largely successful and St. Nics have been playing when they can. Hopefully next year we will be setting up a Cheshire FE league to help with the development of rugby in that age band.

COUNTY

(Cheshire Womens XV)

So far Cheshire have won both games against Northumberland and Yorkshire with a number of the Northwich women making telling contributions in the victories, particularly Jodie Coutts in the game against Yorkshire. Unfortunately we went down in a close defeat to Lancashire but credit to all the players who did the shirt proud.

I have delivered sessions at Sir John Deanes and Mid Cheshire College which is slowly and surely taking rugby on board. I arranged a fixture for Mid Cheshire against St Nics which St Nics won in a very keenly contested game. Both colleges took part in the recent FE comp held at Knutsford Rufc which saw Sir John Deanes college come out on top.
