Colts’ Match Reports 2007-8

October 28th Colts’ vs Rossendale (Home) Won 38-0
With a larger crowd watching, Northwich colts turned on the flowing rugby they are well capable of playing more often. All the 1st half was played in the opponents half, the first score coming by Daley cutting straight thru’ the Rossendale defence, unfortunately the conversion being taken as a drop kick went wide. Sam McCormick limped through the first half, but fought on valiantly. He broke 2 tackles and hobbled on, spinning like a ballet dancer before flicking one off the wrist to set Andy Houghton off, down the line a little shimmy of the hips and neat inside pass to set Richard Dale away for his second try, converted by Joel Barber.
Half-time 12 : 0.
Who remembers the girls in the school yard singing Julio Coco who's got the ball io ! Well we found out today after 5 mins of the second half the little pocket dynamite out on the wing Coco soon raced away with a brace of tries, which had the little birdies on the sidelines cooing. Rossendale kick off and within seconds Northwich were back to the tryline Cabbage planting, down under the sticks. Joel converting by drop kick (please bring the cone next week). Coco's off again on the heels of Dale this time he falls, just short, Rossendale kick to clear the attack straight to Joel Barber who gathers the ball and sets off to score the best try of the game. Just before the final whistle and handbags are out, we thought he would get through the encounter but sicknote is the injured party, a little rub, by team mum gets him up, and he makes it to the final whistle standing firm
