November 27th
U13’s vs Altrincham Kersal (Away) Lost 60-5
With only 14 players the Northwich U13’s where always going to struggle against a well organised Altrincham Kersal side in their Cheshire Cup game. Despite conceding 3 early tries Northwich rallied and some good team work in the scrums and mauls saw them camped on Altrincham Kersal’s 5 metre line for a ten minute spell midway through the first half. A quick thinking penalty move saw Sam Gough cross the line for Northwich’s only score of the game. The half ended with Altrincham again regaining control of the game enough to score another 2 tries. The second half saw Altrincham continue to dominate with them running in a further 5 tries giving a final score of 60-5.

December 4th U13’s vs Broughton Park (Away) Won 57-0
Northwich U13’s proved too strong for Broughton Park coming away with a 57-0 win. With the forwards attacking right from the kick off they secured a lot of the ball to give the backs an opportunity to run at the opposition. The ball handling at times defied the wet and muddy conditions and the good teamwork and support play was reflected in the range of scorers. Tries came from Nathan Jefford (2), Ashley Brown, Tom McCosh, Josh McCormac, Mark Stone, Gavin Vaughan, Bruce Gordon & Sam Gough. Sam Gough also scored 6 conversions for a personal total of 17 points for the match. Jacob McClellan won the vote as man of the match for a excellent display of driving play and tackling

January 8th U13’s vs Winnington Park (Away) Lost 39-7
In their first match of 2006 Northwich U13's played host to local rivals Winnington Park U13's at Moss Farm. From the kick off Northwich made a bright start but soon Park's superior forward play and ball recycling saw them take control of the game. Northwich had periods of attacking pressure but good defensive tackling by Park meant Northwich were unable to convert this pressure into points only being able to score the one try by Gavin Vaughan which was converted by Sam Gough. Park were more decisive in their attacking, running in several tries from Will Broderick (4), Eddie Langley (2), Lewis Pendleton-Briers and two conversions from Tom Cristofani & Max Stothert. Final score Northwich 7 - Winnington Park 39

January 22nd U13’s vs Whitchurch (Away) Lost 29-21
The
U13’s made an excellent start to their game away to Whitchurch , with Mark Stone and Sam Gough running in two early tries , both converted by Sam Gough. However as the game progressed they allowed Whitchurch to get a foot hold and soon the home team started to take control of the game running in 5 tries (converting 2) to lead 29-14. Hopes of a Northwich come back were raised when Chris Brown scored a superb solo try from the half way line . With the conversion being scored by Nathan Jefford making the score 29-21 the scene was set for an exciting last 5 minutes. However Northwich were unable cross the Whitchurch line again has both teams rallied enough to cancel each other out.

February 5th U13’s vs Caldy (Away) Lost 44-17
In a game dominated by forward play Northwich U13’s pack were more than equal to a strong Caldy side for long periods of the match. However some poor concentration and a number of missed tackles allowed Caldy to run in 8 tries with 2 conversions to win 44-17. The Northwich scores all came in the second half . Their first try was scored after a burst from Nathan Jefford took Northwich to within 5 metres of the Caldy try line. Gavin Vaughan picked up from the base of the resulting scrum to drive over in the corner. The second score was a penalty try awarded for deliberate obstruction on Sam Gough as the Northwich pack drove for the try line. Sam Gough converted from in front of the posts. The third try came in the last play of the game as the Caldy fullback kicked clearance failed to fine touch and was picked up by, man of the match, Paul Blakeman on the 22m, who then rode a number of tackles to go over in the corner.

March 26th U13’s vs Sandbach (Home) Lost 53-5
Despite some good spells of play by Northwich U13’s they were unable to stop a well ordered Sandbach side running in 9 tries at Moss Farm on Sunday. Northwich’s only score was a solo try from Mark Stone. Mark reclaimed the ball from a Northwich restart, brushed off a number of tackles to cross the Sandbach line in the corner. Final score 53-5 to Sandbach.
