Year 5/6 Schools Tournament Tuesday July 5th

World Largest Tag Tournament?
Well the Y5/6 tournament proved to be one of the ‘wettest’ Tag Tournaments ever. The local Guardian’s headline ‘Water way to celebrate kids rugby in Vale Royal’ described the day accurately. But despite the weather it was a celebration and 250 youngsters turned up from 17 primary schools across Vale Royal. The plan was to have 100 games of rugby in a two tier tournament of 5 pools to give every team 8 games each. However as everyone was cold and wet the tournament was stopped after the first pool games with 49 games played. Prizes were then awarded to the winners of each pool with the overall winner’s cup going to Hartford Riddings Lane. However at 49 games and 250 children, that’s still a big tournament and the application to the ‘Guiness Book of Records’ for the worlds largest Tag Rugby tournament still went ahead. Sale’s Sharkie mascot made an appearance along with Sale’s European Trophy. Year 3/4 Schools Tournament Thursday May 26th

Hartford Manor run out winners
This year’s tournament enjoyed a super sunny day with everyone enjoying a great day of sport. Despite a number of schools withdrawing at the last minute, organisers reshuffled teams and ran instead with 3 pools of teams instead of the planned four. But no-one seemed to notice as teams used their newly learned running and ball skills to beat their rival schools.
Hartford Manor A team won the second round of league matches and beat their own B team 3-2 to make it three wins. Well done Hartford and all the schools, children and teachers who participated, thank you for your support.
